今、私たちが向き合っている現代という時代は、様々な分野で「多様性」が深まっています。美術においてもその傾向は顕著で、彫刻や絵画という分類にも当てはまらない表現が隆盛となっています。本展は、その兆しの一部を当館コレクションから見出す試みです。既存の表現枠を超えて新しい表現領域を切り拓く。生き生きとした可能性にあふれる作品群はそれぞれに豊かな個性を湛えながら、全体で新しい彫刻の森コレクションの個性をも体感させてくれます。あわせてアートホールで開催しているアカデミックな「名作展」を鑑賞いただくことで、主流とは異なる新しい美意識との出会いをお楽しみいただけることでしょう。

Today we are confronted with a growing demand for diversity in a variety of fields and this is particularly pronounced in art world where works defying the traditional classifications of “sculpture” or “painting” are flourishing. In this exhibition we will look at some of these emerging trends through works from the museum's collection that surpass existing boundaries to pioneer new fields of expression. Brimming with potential, each of these vibrant works possesses a rich individuality while collectively they offer visitors glimpse of the progressive character of the museum’s collection. We hope that you will also take the time to visit the academic “Masterpieces Exhibition” that is being held concurrently in the Art Hall, highlighting the contrast that exists between these new aesthetic sensibilities and mainstream art.
